Has anyone ever said "You need to let it go" and you thought "That would be great, but I don't know how"? The inability to let things go or let things be can create depression about the past and anxiety about the future. Letting be can apply to resentment and anger that expectations we have of life or other people are not being fulfilled, grief over the loss of a loved one, pain and confusion of a traumatic experience, and guilt or shame over something we did or failed to do. The ability to let something be is crucial to mental health and the ability to experience peace and happiness.
